TOWN OF CLAM FALLS
MONTHLY BOARD MEETING
FEBRUARY 12, 2014
Being properly noticed, the monthly meeting of the Clam Falls town board was called to order by Chairman Greg Anderson. Present were Greg Anderson, Brad Olson, the treasurer, clerk, David Herschel Brown; William Johnson, David & Mark Dahlberg (Northwestern Wisconsin Electric), Tom Gordon & Tom Berutti (Kiser Hydro), and several members of the community.
Minutes of the January board meeting were read; Brad Olson motioned to approve; second Greg Anderson; carried.
The treasurer’s report was given. There is $76,944.70 in the savings account, $273,416.66 in the tax collection account with outstanding tax collection deposits of $177,572.39 for a total of $450,989.05; and a negative balance of $338,472.51 in the checking account for total available funds of 189,461.24. Checks are written through 10097. Brad Olson motioned to transfer $356,000.00 from the tax collection account to the checking account; second Greg Anderson; carried. Brad Olson motioned to approve the treasurer’s report; second Greg Anderson; carried.
The clerk is to check on the status of reclassification of Godfrey Lake so that it can be determined when the next inspection is due.
A letter was received from Rhonda Kenyon, Real Estate Specialist with the DNR, stating that the town encroached upon DNR property during improvements to McKenzie Trail and that the town is required to retroactively initiate the process to legally describe the road. A blank application which requires a $500 fee and a copy of the applicable state statutes, accompanied the letter. Brad Olson will contact our state representatives with regard to this matter.
Dave and Mark Dahlberg (Northwestern Wisconsin Electric), and Tom Berutti and Tom Gordon (Kiser Hydro) were present to propose turning over the dam on the Clam Falls Flowage to the town. No action was taken.
Herschel Brown, Polk County Supervisor, was present to provide an update on revision of the county zoning ordinance. He stated that there will be two drafts on the county website and that three informational meetings and three public hearings will be held on the new ordinance.
Lee Cartier reported that he has been plowing snow, sanding, and working on equipment repair in the shop.
The clerk and board members will attend the Wisconsin Towns Association meeting in Siren on March 7 to obtain Board of Review recertification.
Bills were paid and correspondence was handled.
