MARCH 14, 2012

Being properly noticed, the monthly meeting of the Clam Falls town board was called to order by Chairman Greg Anderson. All board members were present, along with the treasurer, the clerk, Herschel Brown (Polk County Board); Kevin Morgan (DNR), and several members of the community.

Minutes of the February town board meeting were read; Robert Carlson motioned to approve; second Brad Olson; carried.

The treasurer report was given. There is $4,717.97 in the checking account, $111,870.41in the tax collection account, and $116,849.38 in the savings account, for total available funds of $233,327.76. Checks are written through #9452. Greg Anderson motioned to approve; second Robert Carlson; carried. Greg Anderson motioned to transfer $30,000.00 from the tax collection account to the checking account; second Brad Olson; carried.

Herschel Brown introduced himself as the new representative for Polk County Board for District 1 as a result of the new redistricting. He serves on several committees, including land information and transition.

Kevin Morgan from the DNR was present regarding a $25,000 DNR grant for the purpose of improving McKenzie Trail. The DNR would provide $25,000 and the town would fund $5,000 for this stretch of road. Greg Anderson motioned to accept the $25,000 grant with the town funding the $5,000; second Brad Olson; carried. Additional discussion centered on how to address trees that must be cut. Kevin Morgan will investigate and let us know how they are to be handled.

The comprehensive land use committee met March 13. Discussion continued to center on zoning models, the options and challenges, and how to address zoning issues.

Brad Olson contacted the Wisconsin Towns Association on verbiage for a referendum on opening town roads to ATVs. The WTA recommended that no referendum be held on the issue. After discussion, Greg Anderson motioned to rescind Ordinance #11-0001 which opened select town roads to ATVs; second Robert Carlson; carried. Greg Anderson motioned to table the issue; second Robert Carlson; carried.

Lee Cartier reported that he is continuing to brush ditches. There is an issue with the beaver dam on Clam Falls Drive at the West Sweden Town line that needs to be resolved. Jim Pearson, Farhner, presented options for maintenance of various town roads; no action was taken.

Robert Carlson motioned to approve the transfer of agency for Shooter’s Bar to Len Chute; second Brad Olson; carried
April 2012 to April 2014; second Brad Olson; carried. Robert Carlson motioned to appoint Ann Lane as town treasurer for a period of two years from April 2012 to April 2014; second Brad Olson; Carried.

Greg Anderson motioned that the clerk purchase a printer; second Robert Carlson; carried.

Bills were paid and correspondence was handled.

Robert Carlson motioned to adjourn the meeting; second Brad Olson; carried.
