TOWN BOARD MEETING
MARCH 10, 2010
Being properly noticed, the meeting of the Clam Falls town board was called to order by Robert Carlson. Board members present were Brad Olson and Robert Carlson. Also present were the clerk, treasurer and several members of the community.
Minutes of the February town board meeting were read. Robert Carlson motioned to approve; second Brad Olson; carried.
The treasurer’s report was given. There is $48,164.30 in the checking account, $145,451.25 in the savings account, and $96,677.69 in the property tax account for total funds of $290,293.24. Checks are written through #8780. Tax collections have been distributed as follows: Frederic School District $237,699.02; Polk County $108,418.41; WITC $23,188.69; Town of Clam Falls $96,465.48. Brad Olson motioned to approve the report; second Robert Carlson; carried.
Robert Carlson reported that work is progressing on the Godfrey Lake Dam Emergency Action Plan.
The Comprehensive Land Use Committee is working with the county regarding processing of variance requests.
The clerk reported that the April ballot will contain the referendum to make the clerk and treasurer positions appointed rather than elected positions.
The bid for the wing, approved at the last meeting, was signed. The clerk will fax the signed agreement to McKenzie.
Lee Cartier reported that road posting has been done. A required repair to the one-ton was completed in the shop. Brad Olson motioned that a pruner be purchased at Jeff’s Small Engine; amount $500. Removal of some trees is required on 80th St. There was discussion of re-striping Clam Falls Drive; however, a chip seal is required. Lee will obtain estimates. Road review will be held at 9 a.m., Monday, March 15. The clerk is to post notices. Lee reported that he attended the MSHA training during the past month.
There was discussion regarding a variance request at 1125 Clam Falls Drive. Brad Olson motioned not to support the variance because the town does not have enough information; second Robert Carlson; carried. The clerk is to email zoning with the board decision.
The clerk reported that the furnace in the town hall doesn’t appear to be working properly. Lee will check it tomorrow.
Bills were paid and correspondence was handled.
