TOWN BOARD MEETING
MARCH 9, 2011
Being properly noticed, the monthly meeting of the Clam Falls town board was called to order by Chairman Greg Anderson. All board members were present along with the treasurer, the clerk, and several members of the community
Minutes of the February town board meeting were read; Greg Anderson motioned to approve; second Robert Carlson; carried.
The treasurer was given. There is $27,809.03 in the checking account, $95,971.98 in the tax collection account, and $146,454.21 in the savings account, for total available funds of $270,235.22. Checks are written through #9141. The February tax settlement provided $212,151.47 to the Frederic School District; $21,779.80 to WITC; $105,540.39 to the county and $94,571.98 to the town. Robert Carlson motioned to approve; second Brad Olson; carried.
Perry Karl reported for the comprehensive land use committee. The meetings for January and February were informal, with discussion centering on the subdivision ordinance and the upcoming open house.
Lee Cartier reported that he has been working on maintaining the equipment. There was discussion of ditch work, particularly on 85th Street by Somers Lake. The county will be contacted regarding replenishing the town gravel supply with a gravel crush this summer. There was also discussion of tree cutting on McKenzie Trail by T&T; Lee reported that the DNR would provide $400 to aid in this effort should it be undertaken, and that they may be able to provide some funds for gravel also. Letters from property owners that would be affected by tree trimming on 100th St. were given to the chairman; no action was taken. Discussion was held regarding chip seal on 90th and 110th Sts. The board will decide at the April meeting on the date for the annual road review.
James Rothmeier requested a permit for firewood on town land; request was denied because of town liability issues.
Rebecca Mein provided the report from the North Land Ambulance board. A new contract will be provided to all townships so that verbage will be consistent. The board will provide an opinion on collection of past due accounts at their April meeting.
Robert Carlson motioned to appoint Ann Lane to the position of town treasurer and to appoint Betty Knutson as town clerk, each for a period of one year; second Brad Olson; carried.
Bills were paid and correspondence was handled.
Greg Anderson motioned to adjourn the meeting; second Brad Olson; carried.
